Question by yendis: What does an insurance vehicle inspection entail?
I’m in a state that does not require vehicle inspections. But when looking for new insurance, one company requires that I have a vehicle inspection done at one of their authorized centers. What does this inspection entail? What are they looking for?
I have 2 exterior modifications, one that is commonly mistaken as illegal (taillight covers) and one that is technically illegal but never enforced (window tint). Is this cause for concern with the inspection?

CARCO. When you switch or newly insure a vehicle that is not brand new, they (the insurance company) must take photos of the vehicle. This protects the insurer from you should you try to commit insurance fraud. Example: If they did not take the photos, you could very easily insure a 2000 Honda Civic with collision coverage, a few days later, you could call in a claim and say somebody blasted your car while you were in the parking lot. However, that damage could have already been present. It’s just the way insurance companies protect themselves.

I am starting a pizza delivery business but I cannot find an insurance carrier that will provide non-owned vehicle insurance. Do I need it? Can I just have the standard business owner policy?

I’ll let you decide.
First, let me tell you what the coverage is.
If one of your employees is delivering a pizza in their own car, and they hit a pedestrian and kill them, the lawyer is going to sue you, because they were acting in the course of their employment.
Do you WANT to have any coverage, if you get a million dollar lawsuit against you? If so, you need the coverage.
Alternatively, you can buy a car, and insure it on your business insurance policy, and let your employees use that car to deliver the pizzas.
Whatever you mean by standard business owner policy, well, coverage is NOT standardized! So if you HAVE no nonowned auto liability under that policy, then you DON’T get that protection.
