Maryland tax climate ranks as ninth worst
Maryland ranks as having the ninth-worst tax climate in the nation for businesses, dragged down by its income, unemployment insurance and property tax rates, according to the Tax Foundation.
The state ranks No. 42, just above the likes of New Jersey, New York, California and North Carolina. It was an improvement by two spots over the previous yearâs rankings, mostly due to the expiration of the so-called âmillionaireâs taxâ on the highest earnersâ income.
