Joyce Roosz (Insurance Billing Mgr. for PUSH) presentation on Purdue Student Health Insurance Questions and Answers Session Q: Can you explain more about the dental option? A: Graduate assistants are eligible for the same dental insurance as faculty and staff. The open enrollment will be in October. The enrollment period is only two weeks long, and because it is part of the regular faculty and staff plan, the coverage runs on the calendar year — January to December. Once you enroll once, coverage automatically continues. If you no longer want dental coverage, you will need to notify the insurance office. Fellowship students, however, are not eligible for this coverage. In order to be eligible for the program, you must be an employee of the University. As fellows are not technically employees (according to payroll), they are not eligible. This may change in the near future, and PUSH recognizes that this is an issue. Q: Where can we find out what sorts of procedures are covered by the 0 preventative care allowance? A: This information can be found in the schedule of benefits, in the policy brochure. The brochure can be found on the PUSH website. The preventative care allowance covers immunizations, screenings, yearly exams, Gardasil shots. All of these procedures, to be covered, need to be done at the student health center. Q: Are free flu shots available to all students? A: No. The free flu shots are available to benefit-eligible students (students on assistanceships
