Since nearly all methods of assessing risk in mortgage backed securities and mortgage insurance models include the FICO score as a standard bearer, FHA middle scores held in GNMA portfolios meet or exceed a mean score of 700 recently. Since FHA “Lender Compare Ratios” include a similar risk assessment that tests delinquency factors by lender and lower than mean scores trigger audits, perceived indemnification losses or threatened closure of operations; Mortgage Bankers Associations Members are less apt to take risks in underwriting FHA loan files.
